Editorial & Corrections Policy
Roll Call Track publishes the public record of Congress: votes, bills, members and STOCK Act trade disclosures. This page explains the standards we hold ourselves to.
Independence
Roll Call Track is owned by FPHOLDINGS LLC. We are not affiliated with any political party, campaign, PAC, member of Congress or government agency. Right now the site is funded entirely by its owner. Advertising will be the main source of funding once it is live, and we may add reader donations. Advertisers, donors and readers cannot pay to add, remove or change how a member, bill or trade appears.
Sourcing standards
- Every vote is drawn from the official House Clerk (clerk.house.gov) or Senate (senate.gov) roll-call record.
- Every stock trade is drawn from a filed STOCK Act periodic transaction report on the House Clerk disclosure site or the Senate eFD system, and links to the original filing.
- Bill status, titles and sponsors come from Congress.gov.
- In articles, every tally we cite is checked against the official roll call before publishing. If a fact comes only from a secondary source, we say so in the text.
- We report trade amounts as the ranges filed. We do not estimate exact amounts or profits.
Nonpartisanship
We apply the same rules to every member regardless of party. Articles describe what a bill does and how members voted. We do not tell readers how to vote. When we describe arguments for or against a measure, we attribute them to the people who made them. Headlines stick to the facts in the record.
How we use automation and AI
Vote, bill, member and disclosure data are collected and updated automatically from the official sources above. We use AI tools to help gather information and write first drafts of articles and summaries. People are in charge of everything we publish: a person edits every piece and checks each fact against the official record, and the owner reviews and approves it before it goes live. Nothing written by AI is published without that review. Automated data is not edited by hand except to fix a confirmed error.
Corrections
Mistakes happen, especially with data that changes often. When they do: 1. Report it. Email mac@rollcalltrack.com or use the Contact page. Include the page link and what you believe is wrong. 2. We check it against the official record. We aim to reply within 5 business days. 3. We fix it. Confirmed errors are corrected on the page. In articles we add a dated correction note saying what changed. Data errors that come from the official source itself (for example, an amended filing) are updated when the source is updated, and noted where relevant. 4. We don't hide changes. We do not silently rewrite articles to change their meaning.
